Basketball - Boys Junior Varsity
vs. Canterbury School
|Date:||January 29, 2014|
|Score:||Berkshire 50 - Canterbury 41|
Event Recap:The boys picked up their second win of the season -- this time on the road against Canterbury. The game was tight at the opening, as both teams spent some time getting to know one another. With about 4 minutes remaining in the half, we led by 2. From there, we had a nice spurt to close the half, giving us an 8 point cushion at the break. Key to the first half run was the play of Patrick Frey '15, Djetry Joseph '15, and Matt Licata '15. Patrick clearly had his best game of the season and played well on both sides of the ball. Djetry, as always, really helped us on the boards and picked up some nice transition points to go along with them. Matt, meanwhile, played with more consistent effort on both sides of the floor and logged heavy minutes.
We talked at the half, as always, about the importance of the first 4 minutes and we responded by increasing our lead into double digits. From there, the game stayed in the 10-14 point range, and Canterbury never really was able to close. This, in part, was due to the scoring of Ehan Keator '16 (7 points), Sean Speegle '17 (9 points) and Brian Rodriguez '16 (6 points). All thee converted when they had chances up close and helped us retain the lead to secure the victory.
We'll take a long weekend and then return to play a tough TP squad at home on Wednesday.
