Basketball - Boys Junior Varsity vs. Millbrook School

Event Type: Regular

Date: January 14, 2013

Score:45 - 23

Event Recap:
The Bears picked up their first win of the season with a decisive victory over visiting Millbrook. We jumped out to a strong start against their 1-3-1 zone and got a ton of good looks. Early on, in fact, we did a nice job of acquiring offensive rebounds, too, which gave us multiple looks on every possession. A couple of early jumpers by Creedy Acosta '13 really set us at ease so we could finally see that there wasn't, in fact, a lid on the basket. Once that happened, we were off and running.

In the first half, especially, we forced Millbrook to initiate from well outside their comfort zone and that made it difficult to get into any semblance of offense going. This also helped us create some turnovers, and we typically converted those turnovers into easy opportunities: quite a turnaround to what had happened to us in previous games.

Once we were into the rhythm of the game, we slowly started to build the lead. Djetry Joseph '15 continued his good work on the boards and Nim Farhood '14 had his most prolific game on offense, scoring repeatedly in transition. Put it altogether and it was our most complete performance of the year.

It feels good to have our first win of the season under our belts. We hope to keep it going. Next up is a home contest against Taft on Wednesday.
