|Date:||January 11, 2014|
|Score:||Berkshire 34 - Avon 44|
Event Recap:The Berkshire Bears Thirds Basketball team suffered their first loss of the year on Alumni Weekend to Avon 44-34 on Saturday afternoon. The Bears played a great first half scoring most of their points in transition off of turnovers and great defense. Komar Martinez-Paiz offered a spark off the bench coming up with crucial steals turning into fast-break points. Justin Donawa had a monster first half scoring the majority of his points from the Bears fast paced play. The Bears took the lead into halftime and came out in the second half with the same energy forcing consecutive stops to start the half. Unfortunately the Bears hit a scoring wall. Avon’s defense tightened up, forcing the Bears run and gun style offense to a half court set. Berkshire also missed Luke Lockwood as an inside presence, fouling out with over eight minutes left in the half. Berkshire was unable to hit crucial shots, and Avon’s guard play and shooting turned into a big reason for Avon’s team success. The Bears will travel to Upstate New York on Wednesday (1/15) to face Trinity Pawling.
