The Berkshire Bears Thirds Basketball team started off the season today with a game that is sure to be one of the most memorable of the season. Hosting long time rival Hotchkiss, the Bears would win an exciting and hard fought game in overtime to open this 13-14' season. The Bears would start the game out slowly, going down a few scores due to not boxing out and giving up second chance opportunities. They would rally back just before the half to take the lead with some big buckets from Luke Lockwood, Quentin Van Der Lee, and Jesse Lee who hit back to back 3's just before the half. The Bears were in control for most of the second half until some good ball movement from Hotchkiss led to some open shots and easy buckets. Regulation would end with the score tied 36-36. Great team defense by the Bears and inspired play from Justin Donawa allowed Berkshire to outscore Hotchkiss 9-2 in OT, going on to win their season opener 45-38. The Bears look forward to the next challenge awaiting them before they head home for Winter break as they host Salisbury on Saturday, Dec. 14th.
