Squash - Boys Junior Varsity
vs. Williston Northampton
|Date:||January 11, 2014|
|Score:||Berkshire 2 - Williston 5|
Event Recap:The Bears traveled to Williston Northhampton for an away match today. We were up against a strong team that had beaten us in the beginning of the season. The Bears competed formidably. Odds took the court first. #7 Gerry Gimenez - Valdes '15 performed well on an opponent ranked three slots above him. In spite of losing 3 - 0, he made incredible improvement in moving around the court effectively. Our left-hander #6 Ian Bell '16 did not start off well with a 4 - 11 loss. However, his tremendous desire to win helped him to push himself through the 5th game. He lost 2-3 but competed at his best on the pressure of the few away games we had this season. #5 Dan Beyer '16 started off with a close win 11-9 yet the pressure from the opponent's cheering rendered him a 1-3 loss. #3 Hunter Borwick '16 began with 2 closed consecutive losses 9 - 11. Despite that, he successfully took over the T in the next two games, settling down to 2 - 2 tie. Unable to maintain his momentum, Borwick lost 2-3. #2 Bao Nguyen '14, myself, met with the same opponent I had first match and lost 3-0. Our Varsity exhibition player and today's JV #1 Tanner Boyle '17 began his match with a 11-6 loss. However, he eventually earned a 3-1 comeback.
It was a tough 2 - 5 loss but, on the short ride home, we all realized that as we further improve our skill, we will regain our confidence from the beginning of the season to face Millbrook on Wednesday.
Brought to you by Bao Nguyen '14.
