Event Type: Regular

Date: February 7, 2014

Score:Berkshire 1 - Rumsey 6

Event Recap:

The JV Girls’ Hockey team took on the speedy varsity squad from Rumsey school, falling to a 6-1 loss. Tender Haleigh Sullivan ‘15 had 38 saves on the day.

The Bears struggled to play tough defensively and despite improved passing, had trouble maintaining possession of the puck. Sullivan fended off 14 saves in the first period, and held her ground until, with just seven seconds on the clock, a Rumsey center squeeked through the defense and stuffed the puck into the net.

With the Berkshire wings finding it diffiuclt to cover the Rumsey points on the blue line, the Blue Dogs’ two second period goals came off the stick of a talented young defensmen, bookending the period at 12:41 and 3:11.

In the third, the Bears looked exhausted and let in two more goals in the first three minutes of the period. Elizabeth Hosage ‘15 converted in front of the net as she walked in from the point to slide a shot past the Rumsey goalie, getting the Bears their only tally of the game. Not finsihsed quiteyet, Rumsey drove the final nail in the coffin at 9:16 to open their lead to five.
