Hockey - Boys Thirds vs. Millbrook School

Event Type: Regular

Date: January 16, 2013

Score:2 - 7

Event Recap:

The Millbrook Mustangs rode into the Jack this afternoon and put a major hurt on Thirds, scoring early and often as they ran away to a 7-2 victory.  With #1 goalie Andrew Koudijs '16 out with a wall-related hand injury, Philly Phenom Roy Faigenbaum got the start in net, with Nick "Great Wall" Greco '13 playing the second and third periods.  A four-goal first period gave the visitors all the cushion they would need, as the Bears struggled to generate offense throughout the game.  The good guys did come alive in the second period, when they scored two goals and allowed only one.  Eric "Smithers" Smith '14 opened the scoring for the home team, potting his fifth goal of the season at the 8:15 mark.  Third form sensation Charlie "Chuckles" Erdmann '16 followed, scoring his team-leading sixth goal on a beautiful top shelf snipe as the teams played four on four late in the second period.  Penalties plagued the Bears throughout the afternoon, with long stretches of the second period featuring one or another of the green jerseys in the sin bin.  Blue-liners Matt "Springer" Spaniol '16 and James "Donny" Donovan '15, contributed solid efforts in the losing cause.  This Saturday, the Bears host a rematch of last Saturday's contest, welcoming the Trinity-Pawling Pride to the friendly confines of the Jack.  See you there.
