Squash - Girls Varsity

|Score:||Berkshire 0 - Hotchkiss 7|
Event Recap:The Bears, on the road for a rare Monday tilt and an even more rare (first ever?!) simultaneous co-ed match (the boys' team made the trip as well), faced a tough challenge from the hosting Hotchkiss side. While the final ledger looked pretty one sided, the girls played some good squash, with the two co-captains enjoying individual adventures.
Evens entered first. #8 Chelsea Leeds and #6 Serena Menges fell in straight games, but Menges's mood was buoyed by birthday wishes from the team and birthday cupcakes from her dad. #4 Edeline Loh played two poor games but roared back in the third, falling by a slim 11-9 margin. #2 Michaelann Denton had the match of the day for Berkshire, winning the first and third games but coming up short in the fifth frame.
The odds needed to run the table to get Berkshire the win, and this was not to be. #7 Lucy Hollister and #5 Allie Brazo fought hard but fell 3-0. #3 Olivia Silverman picked up a deep ball bruise and never really found her rhythm on the afternoon, while #1 Clementina Davila was confounded by the superior racquet skills of the Bearcats' top player.
Coach K. was his usual sanguine self after the match. "I think we were a bit intimidated by our hosts," he reflected. "The effort level was okay but we lost out on a lot of good opportunities with poor movement and unforced errors."
Asked what his team would focus on in their dual match Wednesday (Pomfret and Westminster) and tournament Saturday (at Hopkins School), Kohlhepp was concise: "We need to get the tin out of our game."
