Squash - Boys Varsity vs. The Williston Northampton School

Event Type: Regular

Date: January 22, 2014

Score:Berkshire 1 - Williston 6

Event Recap:
The Bears had a late match at Williston today.  Eager to play some close competition, the team was committed to extending rallies and working on our straight game.  Unfortunately, we never seemed to get off the bus.  We struggled to put balls in the corners and couldn't buy a drop shot in the first few games.  Co-captain and #2 Sam Perkins '14 played a toughly contested match and after winning the first 15-13 ended up going to five games.  He lost the fifth 12-10 off some well-placed rails by his opponent.  Our #4 George Fowlkes '14 extended his match to four games but couldn't consistently execute.  His opponent kept him in the corners while he fought hard, he lost 1-3.  Our win came from #3 Jack Harrison '15 in his first match back on the team.  While his shots weren't perfect, his will to win trumped any mistake on the court.  He moved his opponent off the T as often as possible and won 3-1.  It was  great re-entry into the squash ranks for Jack.  The Bears face Avon at home this Saturday.
