Event Recap:

Berkshire 5 - KO 2
TP 5 - Berkshire 2

In our first home match of the season, the Bears dusted off the cobwebs and came out strong against a talented but young team from Kingswood.  #4 Jack Harrison '15 continues to improve and won in three.  #6 Noah Wilson '15, #7 George Fowlkes '14, and #8 Tanner Tomasi '14 also all won in three games.  In addition, #3 Sam Perkins '14 survived being down 2-1 to come back and win the final two games 11-2, 11-2.  All of the above players notched their first victory as varsity competitors.  #5 Peter Hoover '14, one of three returners managed to earn a victory in four after dropping the second.  He turned it around for the third and fourth games and limited his opponent to a total of six points during the final stretch.  At the top, Hayden Dunham '13 and Sam Lewis '14 both faced stiff competition and couldn't find a good rhythm during their matches. Sam fell 1-3 after keeping himself alive in the third game with a 13-11 game score.  Hayden faced a very talented player and struggled to control the T.  He fell in three.  Nonetheless it provided the Bears with a taste of victory and the team was hungry to improve upon it's performance.

In our second match against TP, the hour break between matches seemed to hurt our ability to play our game.  In a reversal of the previous match, #'s 3 through #8 all lost with #7 George Fowlkes the only one to win a game.  He seemed poised to earn a victory after a convincing 11-4 win in the third but couldn't regain the T in the fourth and lost 3-1.  Captain and #1 Hayden Dunham '13 came out strong against his opponent and won quickly 3-0 using all four corners of the court.  #2 Sam Lewis '14 went down 1-2 before playing some great squash and winning the final two games 11-9 and 11-6.

It was great for every player to earn a victory today and the team continues to demonstrate good improvement.  Thanks to the Dunhams and Mrs. Perkins for the support.  We had a great crowd and hope to continue the home victories in 2013 as we face off against Salisbury and Suffield this week.
