Basketball - Girls Varsity
|Date:||February 7, 2014|
|Score:||Berkshire 53 - Choate 36|
Event Recap:The Girls Varsity Basketball team traveled to Wallingford, CT on Friday night to take on the Class A Choate Wild Boars. This was an extremely important game for the Bears, and they were poised to prove themselves as one of the leading teams in Class B.
At halftime, the Bears and Wild Boars were tied at 18 apiece, but the girls from Berkshire came out of halftime invigorated and inspired. Kristalyn Baisden '15 hit back-to-back three-pointers early in the second half, and the Bears quickly pulled away thanks to their energetic play on both ends of the floor. Everyone contributed, whether playing with intensity on the court or cheering their hearts out on the bench. Samone DeFreese '16 was the leading scorer with 18 points, and Baisden had 16 points. Emmi Graebner '14 had one of her strongest games of the season and was a strong presence in the paint with nine points and four rebounds. Sarah Kinney '15, despite being shorter than many of the girls she was guarding, grabbed five rebounds and also contributed five points of her own. Hannah Cooke '14 dished out a season-high six assists and stepped up to help defend Choate's leading scorer when Baisden was plagued by foul trouble. Kendall Smith '14 played hard on offense and defense; she had four rebounds and two points.
The Bears will host Kingswood-Oxford on Tuesday afternoon at 5:30pm for their Senior Night game (and last home game of the season)! Come out at support the Bears!!
