The Varsity Girls Basketball team traveled to Watertown, CT for its final game of the 2013-2014 regular season against Taft. With the playoffs looming, the Bears were looking to ride the momentum of their impressive eight-game win streak to finish off the regular season on a high note.
Kristalyn Baisden '15, Samone DeFreese '16, Hannah Cooke '14, Kendall Smith '14, and Emmi Graebner '14 came out with unwavering energy and a burning desire to beat Taft for the second time this season. These five girls played the majority of the game and truly played their hearts out. Baisden scored a season-high 27 points, shooting 67% from the field, including four 3-pointers in the second half. DeFreese and Cooke also scored in double figures with 14 points and 13 points, respectively. Camryn Biasin '14 came off the bench and helped to keep the Bears rolling when they needed it the most at the end of the first half, and she was the next leading scorer with seven points. Graebner rounded out the scoring effort with four points of her own. Smith grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds, while DeFreese and Baisden had seven and six boards, respectively. Other notable statistics included Smith's four steals,DeFreese's five assists, and Cooke's four assists.
Coach Smith, Coach Cohan, and Coach McCabe are so proud of the girls for their hard work and dedication this season, and everyone is looking forward to capping it off with a strong run in the NEPSAC Class B Tournament.
