So the true measure of a season is whether or not one has improved. Today on the Duryee Court gave the Bear’s a chance to see if that is in fact the case as the level of play has steadily improved all winter. How to gage it? Well, right before winter break the team faced Westminster in the Loomis Tournament losing by ten as the Westy team made it to the tournament finals. Well, they passed the test with flying colors as they played most of the game working hard, and meeting every challenge sent their way by the Westy five. It was fun to see that some of the guys have come of age over the last few months as Jay Ma dominated the glass; TJ Stewart was a stalwart on D; Lavante Wiggins was impossible to stop underneath and Chris Cooke; Troy Pierre-Louis and Cyrus Rothwell-Ferraris all continued with their steady play. Final score, Bears 64 to 52 a twenty point swing from the first match up. Next stop a rematch with a tough Williston team on Friday which will be another measuring stick.
Player of the game was definitely TJ Stewart as he brought the energy when needed and maintained it for every moment he played, he also had four points; Lavante was huge under the hoop scoring a season high 28; Troy Pierre-Louis had 16; Jay Ma 8 and Chris Cooke 6. Everyone played and contributed the win. It sure is a nice feeling on a cold winter day for sure to have a win like this!
