Basketball - Boys Varsity
|Date:||January 15, 2014|
|Score:||Berkshire 43 - Taft 52|
Departure time, 2 pm to head south for a tilt against the Taft Rhino’s at 4. The team spirit was high on the van ride down giving hope for the game ahead for the Bears. The game had a fast start for the team as they came out firing on all cylinders taking an early lead. It felt like the rise out of the abyss that has been plaguing the group was at hand and that finally the group was ready to put it together. And then it happened! One minute with five turnovers turned a tied game at 15 into an eleven point deficit from which the team never recovered. At one point the Bears were down by 15 in the second half and once again they whittled the lead down to seven, and then again a minor melt down occurred and the Rhinos impaled the Bears with the final blow by going on another run bringing home the victory, 52 to 43. Back to the drawing board once again to try to solve the riddle of the team's season so far, the momentary lapses that have hurt in every game. It is still early in January, so there's plenty of time still on the clock for this group to get together.
Line scores for the day saw Troy Pierre-Louis lead the group with 14 points; he was followed by Levente Wiggins’ 11 point effort; next was Chris Cooke’s and Jay Ma’s 7 point contribution; and everyone on the team got some good playing time, which can only help as we go forward into the second half of January. No rest for the weary as the team hosts a tough Kent team for a Saturday night home game on the friendly confines of the Duryee Court at 7 pm.
