Basketball - Boys Varsity
vs. The Williston Northampton School
|Date:||December 1, 2012|
|Score:||54 - 62|
The Berkshire hoop team took a road trip across the Mass Pike to play Williston at a 6 pm game on Saturday. Both teams had already had one game under the belt but had minimal time in the gym for practice so neither coach knew what to expect. What transpired was one very good basketball game, in spite of the limited practice time.
The game was tied at 23 apiece with 2:00 minutes left in the first half when the Bears went into winter hibernation, allowing an 11 to 0 run prior to intermission, a run from which they never recovered . While the Berkshire team won the second half ,the fatal blow had already been administered. The final score was 54-62.
Lesson of the day: play all 32 minutes in the next game. Several players did distinguish themselves in this game. Kyle Kobis led all players with 14 points, which included two three pointers; Eric Samuel had a nice game with 13 points, including several great blocks and some solid overall defense; third former Chris Cooke chipped in 12 with two threes while even running the point for a while; Chris Gaynor, Cody Turner and Jack Benham chipped in 6, 5 and 4; and the two “energy guys”, Mike Allen and Zeiko Lewis, played some lock-down defense.
Next game is on the Duryee Court against the defending Class A champs, Salisbury. Come on up and support us!
