The Bears dropped another close game to Cushing on Sunday afternoon. After the winter carnival weekend and a tight game against Lawrence, the Bears had a bit of an uphill battle against Cushing. The first period did not go exactly as the Bears expected. A more rested Cushing came right out of the gates, testing the heavy-legged Berkshire defense. Jeanne Morin was the star of the first period, as she turned away Cushing advances left and right. With the Bears running around for almost the entire period, Cushing was able to put one by Jeanne with only 15 seconds left on the clock.
But the Bears came back flying in the second and third periods. Going straight at Cushing, the Bears had a bunch of good looks at their goalie. One especially close call came from a shot from Bella Sinsigalli, who had Rhiannon Vanderbeek perfectly poised for a tip. But the Cushing goaltender turned them away. The freshman line of Kate Klimaszewski, Kylie Wilkes and Alli Sugar had another strong game this afternoon. Generating offense from all over the ice, these three seamlessly worked the puck down low and around the Cushing defense. But, as time ticked off the clock, the Bears were unable to light the lamp and Cushing took the win.
The Bears look to avenge their loss when they take on Gunnery at Gunnery on Wednesday afternoon.
