Lacrosse - Boys Junior Varsity
vs. Salisbury School
|Date:||April 29, 2013|
|Score:||3 - 10|
On Monday, the Bears had a tough loss to the Salisbury Crimson Nights. After a tough overtime loss to Trinity Pawling on Saturday, the Bears seemed to not be able to put together any offensive plays or to keep a consistently tight defense. At the end of the first quarter, Salisbury was up 4-0. Nonetheless, long pole Brooks Kiley had a nice steal, Dylan Cunningham had some nice stops at goal, and defensive midfielder James Funderburg had a nice ground ball on the face off.
The Bear's positive attitude brought them one goal in the second quarter by midfielder Milton Martinez on a fast break. Long pole defenseman Michael Schiffer did well at face off and even made a nice pass to attackman Barclay Gammill for a sold attempt on goal. There were lots of close scoring opportunities by attackmen Andrew Koudijs and Sam Merrill, and midfielder Chris Zaffanella had a good look to attackman Jake Kaminetsky. While Dylan had some nice saves and stops, Salisbury continued to capitalize on Berkshire mistakes and put four more points on the board going into half.
The Bears kept fighting during the second half, but couldn't catch up to the aggressive Salisbury team. Midfield Jay Bolton had a quick goal, Brooks played nice defense, and Dillon continued to make some nice saves. Berkshire kept Salisbury to only one goal during the third quarter.
In the fourth, Berkshire again kept Salisbury to one goal, and the Bears made another goal to make the final score 10-3. Midfielder Ehan Keator had a nice look to Milton, Sam had a nice attempt, and Andrew connected with Jay who made a goal on a man down. The Bears hope to continue building their confidence and bounce back from this loss by taking Trinity Pawling on again this Wednesday.
