While the Bears suffered a tough overtime loss on Saturday to Trinity Pawling, their overall performance in the game showed their continued progress as a team and how they are starting to come together as one playing unit. The Bears got off to a good start by having a lot of possessions early on and with midfielder Ehan Keator making a nice pass to midfielder Charlie Quiaintaince who made a good goal to keep the score tied 1-1 at the end of the first quarter.
The Bears and TP continued to battle it out in the second quarter. Attackman Barclay Gammill made a good pass to midfielder Peter Hoover who made a goal, and midfielder Milton Martinez made a nice drive on goal for another point. Attackmen Barclay Gammill and Andrew had some nice attempts on goal as well. On the defensive side, goalie Connor Shalleck had some nice stops and defensive pole Hunter Reynolds had a nice steal. The battled continued during the second half and would end up going into overtime. During the third quarter, Milton scored one on a fast break and Barclay had a nice assist with a pass to Charlie who got the goal. Unfortunately, some penalties hurt Berkshire in the third and TP was able to score on some man-up plays and a fast break. TP was up 6-5 going into the fourth.
TP put some points up early in the fourth, but the Bears answered with some quick and strong drives by Milton who scored two and who also assisted Barclay in a goal he made with a nice wind-up shot. Barlcay also made a nice goal due to Hunter's long pass across the field after he stole the ball from another defender. Milton and Barclay's goals sealed up the fourth quarter and took the game in overtime. The Bears played hard until the final seconds with solid defense by Mike Schiffer and a close attempt on goal by Barclay, but a quick shot by TP that made it in ended the game. The Bears played hard and realized what they can do when they dig deep. They hope to get back on a winning streak against Salisbury this Wednesday.
