Lacrosse - Boys Junior Varsity
|Date:||April 10, 2013|
|Score:||2 - 8|
The JV Boys came into practice on Wednesday after a great couple of days of practice which included conditioning and stick work. Long pole veteran and go-to face off man Brooks Kiley started the game strong with the first position. Soon after, the Bears found themselves in a man-up situation, and Barclay Gammill was able to score. The offense had some great possessions and good looks early on, but weren't able to capitalize on them after the first goal. The Winged Beavers were plagued with penalties early in the game, but were still able to outscore the Bears 3-1 in the first quarter. Still, Jake Kaminetsky, one of the top attack men on the team, did great at goalkeeper.
In the second quarter, Avon pulled ahead with three more goals. The Bears began to receive more penalties and started the quarter with a man down play against them. At the half, the score was 6-1.
The Bears kept the Winged Beavers from scoring more during the second half, and the Winged Beavers didn't score two goals until the fourth quarter. During the third quarter, Sam Merrill stepped up to play goalkeeper and only allowed two shots in during the second half. There were some great shots by the Bears on the goal, but they couldn't get any in to bring the score closer. The Bears really started to bring it together in the fourth with a nice goal by Barclay during a man-up play and some great saves by Merrill. There were also some nice fast breaks and close shots on goal.
The Bears look to get their first regular season win again Loomis on Saturday as they continue to refine their offensive and defensive skill in the next couple of days.
