Lacrosse - Boys Junior Varsity vs. Deerfield

Event Type: Regular

Date: April 3, 2013

Score:4 - 10

Event Recap:

The boys took the field on Wednesday after coming off a positive experience with their recent scrimmage against Hotchkiss.  From the beginning, Deerfield came on strong, winning the faceoff.  But the Bears also had some great looks on goal, and Jake Kaminetsky had a close attempt.  Going into the second quarter, Deerfield was up 2-0, but the Bears were able to put up two points in the second, while Deerfield put up three more.  During the second quarter, the Bears' offense and defense started to come together with some great saves by goalkeeper Dillon Cunningham and goals by Milton Martinez and Barclay GammillThe offense was looking quick towards the end of the second quarter  with James Funderburg making a nice pass to Kaminetsky, and the defense was so aggressive that long pole Michael Schiffer got hit in the helmet with a ball heading to the goal.  At the half, the score was 5-2, Deerfield.

While the Bears were able to put two more points on the board during the second half scored by Gammill, Deerfield kept putting them up as well with the final score being 10-4.  The Bears' midfield line and attack men were moving better and making better looks on fast breaks. During the second half, midfielder Chris Zaffanella took a nice shot on goal, and Barclay capitalized on the man up plays to get his goals.  The Bears hope to be more consistent and aggressive against Taft on Saturday.
