Event Type: Regular

Date: May 4, 2013

Score:6 - 1

Event Recap:

The Bears were put to the test when Kent came to campus, but the Bears prevailed and won 6-1. Maisie Noesen ’13 continued her strong play at number one, and won 6-0; 6-1. Blake Pollizi ’14 had to pull out all her stops to get by a strong opponent, but in the end she won 6-4/6-3. Alli Bliven ’13 had quite a few unforced errors in the first set, but once again she managed to refocus and sailed through the second set (6-3; 6-0). Caroline Welch ’15 came out strong and won  the first set 6-2. The second set though seesawed back and forth until she won 9-7. Serena Menges ’14 and Hattie Waldron ’13 played perhaps their best match of the year, and won a well-played match 6-1; 6-0. Mena Lascurain ’13 and Sophie Needles ’16 stood for the biggest comeback of the day, when they went down 1-4 in the second set, but stormed back to win the match 6-3; 7-5. Catherine Xu ’14 and Emily Walsh ’16 played a tight and long match, but ultimately lost the third set in a tiebreak. Overall it was a great showing from the Bears, on a gorgeous sunny spring day.
