Softball - Girls Junior Varsity vs. Rumsey Hall

Event Type: Regular

Date: April 10, 2013

Score:2 - 24

Event Recap:

The JV Bears were a bit overmatched by the Blue Dogs of Rumsey, both in terms of numbers and experience but conjured up several “firsts” in their first game of the 2013 season. Mary Gao, playing in her first-ever softball game, whacked the first pitch she saw into right field and pushed our first run across the plate as Juyoung Lee scored. Colleen Devanney, in her debut in the pitcher’s circle, recorded two strike-outs in the game, had one hit in four chances and scored our other run when catcher Jenalyn Rembish hit a sharp grounder. Shortstop Lihn Vo, also in her first game, combined with third basewoman Juyoung on a nice defensive play to wipe out a Rumsey baserunner at third. The small-in-numbers Bears were bolstered by the presence of varsity players Amani Bethea and Logan Bell, on loan to us for the game; their help was greatly appreciated by their JV colleagues.

Next game for the JV team is on Wednesday April 17th when we face the Saints of Canterbury at 3:15 on our home field.
