Baseball - Boys Junior Varsity

After a squeaker against Rumsey Hall, the Bears were looking for an easier time of it today. On the strength of strong pitching and explosive hitting, they got it, invoking the mercy rule in a 13-1 win over Canterbury.
Pat Frey took the hill for the boys in green and gray and threw four strong innings, striking out 10 and allowing only four hits. Trevor Berry came in to seal the deal in the fifth, tossing a scoreless frame with three more Ks.
Frey also did damage with the bat, coming a triple away from hitting for the cycle on the day. His rocket to straightaway right field, which he legged into a home run, was probably the farthest hit ball of the season thus far. Frey also drove in three and scored three.
Chris Cooke added three hits for Berkshire, including a couple of doubles. Trevor Berry and Mark Driscoll managed a couple of base knocks each, and Henry Thomas tacked on a triple and scored twice.
A great group of parents added oral support on the afternoon, as the Ramellas and Cookes and Ryans were on hand, along with Mr Meehan and Mr Frey; the Thomases and Berrys capped off a great day at the diamond by sending the boys home with food and drink.
