On a blustery spring afternoon, the Bears came up short in their bid to extend their undefeated season. Strong starting pitching and some timely defense on the part of the visiting Wyverns led the visiting time to a hard-fought road win.
Mohib Amin struck out six in six innings and added some good defensive plays in support of the cause. Calder Ryan and Henry Thomas collaborated on some nice third-to-first put-outs, and Miko Garcia and Cody Lucey made seventh-inning grabs in the outfield to keep the Bears within striking distance.
At the plate, Berkshire watched more pitches than they hit, tallying seven walks but only four hits. Jack Gustavson had a productive afternoon, with a hit, a walk, an RBI, two stolen bases and two runs. Nick Greco had two walks and a run driven in and engaged in some adventurous baserunning to keep the opponents on their toes. Matt Renzi also contributed a hit, a walk, a run and two stolen bases.
