Saturday's game at Suffield was a crucial win for the Bears. After a tough two weeks with three close losses, the Lady Bears were not only looking for a win, they were hungry for one. The game started off with a bang, as we scored three goals within the first 5 minutes, and the first goal in the first 50 seconds. Sabrina Tattersfield '16, Sophia Peluso '16 and Sydney Beldock '14, played their usual controlled game, but other talent joined them in the spotlight. Allie MacErlean '14 and Sandra Stephan '15, the strongholds of the offense, shone on the field and reminded the team just how essential they are to our signature plays. Emily Barclay '15, held it down and played excellent body defense in the ride.
In the 2nd half, Berkshire grabbed a few quick goals and held a commanding five point lead, ready to clinch the win, but Suffield had other plans. Suffield was able to cause some big turnovers in the final ten minutes of the game and chipped awaty at Berkshire's 12-7 lead. In the final minutes, with a player down due to a card, Hannah Honan' 15, Kenzie Lancaster '15, and the rest of the attack made excellent and well placed cuts in the offensive end, allowing the clock to wind down. It was a hard earned and well deserved win, one that even Herb Brooks would have been proud of. As the great man once said, "win, lose or tie, you're going to play like champions"!
