Lacrosse - Boys Varsity
vs. Williston Northampton
|Date:||April 24, 2013|
|Score:||16 - 8|
Berkshire welcomed Williston Northampton to campus Wednesday afternoon to continue their long rivalry. Berkshire was coming off an impressive defensive win over Kent 4-1 and was looking to get on a roll. Sam Woodcock got the Bears on the board first by running through his man and ripping a nice shot and then a second goal off a feed from Charlie Corcoran. However, Williston came back and scored the next two and the Bears knew that this was not going to be an easy day. Sam Hahn then went on a nice run at the face off X getting the Bears some key possession and Berkshire responded by scoring three goals in a minute and twenty-three seconds (Regan Haas assisted by Woodcock, Michael Allen assisted by Quin Pompi, and Corcoran unassisted). Williston did sneak one in right before the end of the quarter making it 5-3.
The second quarter belonged to the Bears as they ran off another five goals (Robbie Fiamengo had a pair of goals, while Corcoran, Woodcock, and Jimmy McKee all got in the mix) and the Bears went into halftime up 10-4.
The second half saw Williston continue to battle hard but the Bears were just too much and the game ended 16-8. Second half goals came from Sam Woodcock’s 4th goal of the game, two goals by Sam Merritt, Regan Haas’s second of the game, and goals by Ben Brigham and Noah Arin. Tyler Behring and Dillon Cunningham combined to keep the Williston offense in check between the pipes. Sam Hahn and Jack O’Donoghue had nice games picking nine and eight groundballs respectively. The Bears will head down to take on a tough Trinity Pawling team this Saturday.
