Lacrosse - Boys Varsity vs. Kent School

Event Type: Regular

Date: April 20, 2013

Score:4 - 1

Event Recap:

Berkshire welcomed Kent to campus Saturday afternoon.  Berkshire’s Sam Woodcock struck first 26 seconds into the game with a laser and the game looked like it could be a shootout.  However, the defenses and goalies for both teams had other plans and the quarter ended 1-0.  The second quarter was equally low scoring as Kent’s long pole put one in on transition, only to be matched by a Michael Allen goal.  With the game 2-1 at half both teams knew that they could not afford to make mistakes.  The second half was very similar to the first, as Berkshire scored in the first minute of the quarter on a Bob Fiamengo goal before both defenses held the opposing offenses in check.  The fourth quarter saw a bunch of great offensive chances for the Bears but the Kent goalie proved equal to the challenge and the Bears were only able to add one more goal in transition when Jack O’Donoghue found Charlie Corcoran for the clincher and the Bears won a hard fought battle 4-1.

The Berkshire defense led by Jack O’Donoghue, Cooper Fersen, George Fowlkes, Ryan Savage, and Jared Shatkin did a great job keeping Kent’s chances down and goalie Tyler Behring did a great job stopping all but one of their shots.

Faceoff specialist Sam Hahn did a great job winning seven of nine faceoffs and helping the Bears to control the tempo of the game.
