Crew - Boys Varsity vs. Pomfret

Event Type: Regular

Date: April 23, 2014

Event Recap:
The Berkshire boys' crew team traveled to the waters of Wappaquasset Pond in Woodstock, Connecticut for their second race of the season, hosted by Pomfret School. Weather and winds had been a continual challenge during the past week of practice and Wednesday's conditions proved no different. In a headwind that was measured upwards of 30 mph, the Bears set a dominant tone early when the fifth boat, comprised of Austin Hovey '15, Rad Savage '15, Sam Gatsos '17, Kevin Kim '15 and coxswain Ben Nadler '16, crossed the line 50 seconds ahead of 2nd place. As the afternoon continued the margins of victory tightened up, but Berkshire crossed the line first in all six of the boys' races, making the day a clean sweep of Pomfret, Medford, Worcester, and Marianapolis. The Bears have a week and a half to find more speed before they take on some of the fastest crews in the nation at the Founders' Day Regatta on Sunday May 4th. 6-0 against Pomfret 4-0 against Medford 1-0 against Worcester 1-0 against Marianapolis 12-0 on the day
