Baseball - Boys Varsity vs. The Hotchkiss School

Event Type: Regular

Date: April 24, 2014

Event Recap:
The Bears had their first home game in several weeks.  Hotchkiss came to town for a non league matchup.  The Bears scored two in the first inning, which would we all of the scoring for the day.  In that inning Alden Boldt '14 reached on an error and Nate Summers '14 walked.  Boldt was driven home on a single to right by Bryan Gerstenfeld '14 and Summers came in when Jon Chudacoff '14 hit a line drive single.  The Bears had some chances in the last three innings but could not find a hole.  Ian Rasmussen '14 started and finished on the mound for Berkshire for his second win of the season.  He worked out of several jams and used his defense on three occasion to roll a double play.  Overall he did a great job of challenging the Hotchkiss players and using his defense.  With the winds howling today, every pop up was an adventure.  The outfielders did well to catch most of the balls hit their way including a diving snag by Stephen DePietto '15 in the first.  Overall, it was a solid game by the Bears and they hope to keep their momentum going against Wilbraham on Sat.  Thanks again to Cory Anderson. And his crew for broadcasting the game and to Lissa McGovern and Evan Nielsen for doing the play by play!
