Berkshire School has a rich baseball tradition — the school has fielded a team every year since Seaver Buck founded the Berkshire in 1907, and the crack-of-the-bat can still be heard under the Mountain over one hundred years later. The Bears play a 20-game regular season, which includes 14 games in the Western New England Prep Baseball League (WNEPBL).  In order to prepare for the season the program offers a spring trip in March for both JV and varsity players to Florida.

The 2016 Berkshire varsity team finished with a 13-1 regular season record which allowed the Bears to clinch the number one seed for the Young Division of the WNEPBL.  After an exciting 10-8 win in the semi-final game, the Bears advanced to the championship.  Starting pitcher Brian Rodriguez '16 held Cheshire to one hit and the Bears took a lead into the sixth inning, but ultimately they came up short in the final innings.  Berkshire finished this memorable season with an overall record of 14-2 and the league recognized several players for their individual contributions, which included the two top prizes for our division.  Brian Rodriguez '16 was named Player of the Year for the Young Division and Brenden Cournoyer '17 was named Pitcher of the Year for the Young Division.  In addition, Matt Koopman '17 and Drew Pitcher '17 both were selected to the WNEPBL all-star team.  Sam Boorstyn '17 and Kevin Doody '16 were both named to the Second Team.  With a good core of returners and some quality additions for the 2017 season, the Bears look to once again be competitive in the league.

Overall, playing quality baseball is our focus, and we are looking for players who want to compete, work hard, and do what is necessary for team success. We prepare our players for the next level, which includes working with each player interested in playing in college to find a school and program that is a good fit.  Former Berkshire players are currently playing for University of Connecticut, University of Louisville, Northeastern University, University of Maine, Sacred Heart University, and Dickinson College.
