Baseball - Boys Varsity vs. Canterbury School

Event Type: Regular

Date: April 17, 2013

Score:16 - 0

Event Recap:

The Bears played well against the Saints in their first meeting this season. Berkshire jumped out to an early lead and didn’t look back, finishing with a team total of 12 hits in a 16-0 victory.

Will Aldam ’14 was on the bump for the Bears, throwing three strong innings and recording five strikeouts. Before he took to the rubber, the boys in green had already put six runs on the board. A double by Ryan Summers ‘13 and singles by Isaiah Nunez ’14, Jesse Hahn ’13, and Nate Summers ’14 scored the first four, and a triple by Sam Perkins ’14 knocked home two more. The Bears would add three more in the second; after a few walks and a Ryan Summers single, the Saints walked home two runs and Nunez scored on a Perkins groundout. Perkins would hit home two more runs in the third for a total 5 RBI on the day. The Berkshire baserunners took advantage of a few walks and passed balls to put up three more in the same frame, bringing the team tally to 14.

Ryan Summers tripled in the fourth—his fourth hit on the day—and later scored on an error, giving Berkshire a 15-0 lead, while Ian Rasmussen ‘14 took the hill in the bottom half and, like Aldam before him, shut down the Saints’ offense. He also singled in the fifth, as did Nate Summers, who scored on a Kyle Kobis ’13 groundout. The game ended in five after Rasmussen induced three consecutive groundballs and Dan Driscoll ’15 made three consecutive put-outs from second.
