The Berkshire bats were alive and well when the boys visited Millbrook, besting the Mustangs 18-3. Isaiah Nunez ’14 had six RBI on three hits, with four RBI coming on a grand slam homerun.
Captain Ryan Summers ’13 put the Bears on the scoreboard in the first on a three-run homerun, followed by a Nunez double. Bryan Gerstenfeld ’14 then singled to score Nunez, and he later scored Berkshire’s fifth run on a passed ball.
Will Aldam ’14, who pitched a solid four innings, shut down the Mustang hitters, allowing only one unearned run while he was on the bump, and his teammates continued to help him at the plate. Summers got things going again in the second with a two-run triple, and Adam Tracey ‘13 knocked in another run on his second of two hits on the day. Both Summers and Jesse Hahn ’13 took home on passed balls, bringing the Berkshire tally to 10.
In the top half of the third, Nunez homered to put two more on the board, and Hahn added another on a sac fly. The fourth featured Nunez’s grand slam, and Sam Perkins’ ’14 sac fly in the fifth brought the 18th run home for the Bears. Johnny Grogan relieved Aldam to seal the deal, letting up only two runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.
