Field Hockey - Girls Varsity vs. Northfield Mount Hermon

Event Type: Regular

Date: October 23, 2013

Score:Berkshire 1 - Northfield Mt Hermon 2

Event Recap:
Berkshire record: 6-5-1
This was a disappointing loss for us for several reasons.  First, we believed this was a Class A team we could beat.  We had earned a string of wins and entered the game confident this would be another.  Second, we were up 1-0 at the half and enjoyed the fact that we were dominating the field.  Third, we entered the second half over-confident, casual, and lost the game on our own.
NMH took awhile to warm-up and get their team focused on the game.  We took advantage just over six minutes into the game off a goal by Ronnie Lortie '14 who hammered home a pass from Sabrina Tattersfield '16.  Unfortunately, that was all we could muster.  What in the first half was solid passing, aggressive play and great team work, became careless passes, passive D and individual play.  This was a good lesson for the Bears as we learned that it is necessary to play 60 minutes.  A solid effort by Jamie Ernst '15 who stepped into the net in place of our starting goalie who was out for medical reasons.  We face another talented Class A team away at Loomis on Saturday.
