Field Hockey - Girls Varsity vs. Hotchkiss

Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Away

Date: October 2, 2013

Result:Tie
Score:Berkshire 0 - Hotchkiss 0

Event Recap:
Berkshire record: 4-2-1

The Bears fought hard to pull off a tie vs Class A powerhouse, the Hotchkiss Bearcats. We felt confident entering the game, and though it was our fifth game in a week and a half and we were traveling to their field, we knew this could be our year to catch the Bearcats on their heels. In the past fifteen years, the Bears have never beaten the Bearcats and have only tied one other time.

Hotchkiss put a great deal of pressure on our defense throughout most of the game.   Alli Sugar ’16 continued to be a stone wall at the center back position. Sophia Peluso ’16, Sandra Stephan ’15 and Olivia Good ’15 continued to work their magic at the midfield. Emily Czajkowki ’15 turned away each shot, even saving a shot just to the right of her that was about three feet off the ground with two minutes left in overtime. Everyone got into the game and worked tirelessly to preserve the tie. Hotchkiss earned 20 corners, but could not connect to finish the play. The Bears fought hard, and the best part is, we know we can play better. We are home on Saturday against league rival, Williston North Hampton. Please come out and support!
