Field Hockey - Girls Varsity
|Date:||September 25, 2013|
|Score:||Berkshire 1 - Millbrook 0|
On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon in Millbrook, NY, the Bears battled for their second win of the week, bringing their record to an even .500. Building on their successes from Monday’s game against Ethel Walker, the Bears came out of the gates hungry for another win. Berkshire kept possession of the ball for much of the first half with our midfielders Sophie Peluso and Sandra Stephan feeding our forward line and sending them on runs into the circle. Sabrina Tattersfield had a couple of opportunities on back post from crosses by Olivia Good and Sophie Perekslis, but couldn’t seem to find the back of the net. With about ten minutes left in the half, the Bears finally found the back of the net when Natalie Harrington banged home a pass from Ronnie Lortie.
The second half brought much of the same. There were lots of Berkshire opportunities, but the ball didn’t seem to want to bounce our way. Our defense continued to be solid in the second half. While Mauren McCarthy and Allegra Horstmann held down the wings, Alli Sugar remained a brick wall in the center of the field, turning away Millbrook advances before they were able to get anything substantial started. Emily Cjaijkowski earned her first shut out of the season, turning away just three Millbrook shots.
The Bears look to continue their winning streak when they head to Kent on Saturday afternoon.
