Field Hockey - Girls Varsity vs. Northfield Mount Hermon

Event Type: Regular

Date: October 24, 2012

Score:0 - 3

Event Recap:

The Bears dropped a disappointing loss against the NMH Hoggers this afternoon. Missing Jeanne Morin and Chase Gerber, the Bears were unable to generate any sustained offensive threat. Despite the long bus ride, the Bears came ready to play, shaking off bus legs and working to maintain focus. In the first half, NMH came at Berkshire; successfully maintain possession and working the ball on their strong side of the field. But, due to the strong defensive efforts of Maureen McCarthy, Alli Sugar, Allegra Horstmann and Olivia Mason, the Bears were able to fend them off.  Despite strong offensive pushes from Elle Mattsson and Ronnie Lortie, the Bears were unable to build strong offensive momentum.

The Bears came out of the half confident in their game, aiming to work together to get the ball into their offensive 25. While glimmers of potential came through, the Bears could not connect all of the dots and many of our rushes fell short just as they entered the circle. Sandra Stephan led Berkshire today, transitioning from defense to offense seamlessly and beating NMH defenders all over the field. Taylor Sorenson remained strong as ever, turning away 14 of 18.

The Bears look to avenge their loss at home on Saturday afternoon against Loomis.
