Field Hockey - Girls Junior Varsity vs. Kent School

Event Type: Regular

Date: September 28, 2013

Score:Berkshire 0 - Kent 1

Event Recap:

The Bears dropped a hard-fought match 1-0 on the road at Kent, bringing the season to 1-1-2 at the close of September. With goalie Ani Wilson ‘16 out for the game, Eliza McKenna ‘16 stepped into the net for her team.

Berkshire played with gusto throughout the fifty minutes of play. Arwen Neski ‘15 had her strongest game yet as she controlled play all over the field. Other notable efforts come from Tatum Boyle ‘16 and Maggie Markgraf ‘17 at attack and defense respectively.

WIth less than four minutes to play and no tallies on the board, the Bears called a timeout to make a go at an unpracticed formation, loading the attack with extra players on the hunt for a goal while leaving the backs understaffed. Kent was able to capitalize quickly, putting a shot past McKenna with 2:52 on the clock. Though Berkshire nearly evened things back up in the remaining plays, they were unable to find the back of the Kent net in time.

The Bears will continue to battle through illness and injury this week as they prepare to take on Hotchkiss and Williston.
