Soccer - Girls Junior Varsity
vs. Indian Mountain School
|Date:||October 25, 2013|
|Score:||Berkshire 6 - IMS 2|
Berkshire faced IMS in a rematch of an earlier season 2-2 tie, this time on their home turf. Despite the cold, the Bears were strong from the start, and about six minutes into the game,Erin Dillon ’17 knocked in a cross from Sarah Rogers ’14. The Falcons of IMS were quick to respond and tied the score back up five minutes later. The Bears continued to fight for the lead back and were successful when Kylie Wilkes ’16 skillfully and with composure dribbled through multiple IMS defenders and then around the goalie to place the ball in the back of the net. The half ended at 2-1.
With only a one goal cushion, the Bears still had reason to worry as the strong and skilled IMS team would be hungrier than ever for a goal. But Berkshire’s offense continued to push hard and ten minutes into the half, the Bears tallied two more goals both assisted by Dillon and scored by Emmi Graebner ’14. Despite relentless defense by Catherine Xu ’14, Neeka Daemi ’17, and Andrea Cass ’17, and amazing saves by Lauren Henman ’14, the Falcons snuck in one more goal to close the gap to two. But the end of the half included two more goals by Dillon, earning her the hat trick for the day, and giving the Bears the 6-2 win.
Berkshire will travel to nearby Mount Everett School on Monday for a 3:30 game.
