Soccer - Boys Thirds vs. Indian Mountain School

Event Type: Regular

Date: October 26, 2012

Score:3- 0

Event Recap:

On a dark, cloudy Friday afternoon, the Bears hosted Indian Mountain’s varsity team. After a disappointing game at Taft on Wednesday, the Bears worked hard in practice Thursday to improve their tactics. The hard work paid off handsomely Friday afternoon. Even a circling helicopter could not distract them from their mission. Indian Mountain is a tough and skilled team, and the game was soon on at full tilt. Patrick Frey, an IMS grad, scored first for Berkshire on a fine shot from the left side of the pitch. Bryce Laigle kept the IMS offense at bay. At half time, the score stood at 1-0 in the bears favor. In the second half, Connor Shalleck scored with a high lob off a corner kick. Sam Merrill put the game out of reach with another high shot that eluded the IMS goalie. IMS continued to pepper the Berkshire goal, but fortunately many of their shots were wide or high, and Henry Thomas made some big saves. The tireless Conor Shalleck, Quinton Pollart and Matt Licata were very tough on defense, together with Vaughan Kavanaugh and Noah Wilson. Chris Kreke continued his excellent play at midfield, as did Hunter Reynolds, together with Barclay Gammill, Jack Gustavson and George Frick. In addition to Patrick Frey, forwards Son Nguyen, Ben Nadler, Si Tolvo and Pedro Escobar pushed our attack forward. The Bears play Salisbury Saturday.
