Cross Country - Girls Varsity vs. New Englands

Event Type: Regular

Date: November 9, 2013

Score:See Write-Up

Event Recap:

On Saturday, November 9th, the Berkshire Cross Country team traveled to Suffield Academy for the Division II New England Championships.  Finishing in FIRST place and named the Division II Girls’ Varsity New England Champion was Berkshire’s own Sarah Kinney ’15 as she raced against girls from fifteen other schools.  Moreover, Sarah ran away with a new course record!  What makes this feat even more remarkable is that Sarah is a newcomer to the sport.

Also running in the varsity race and representing Berkshire with great pride was Olivia Silverman ’15 who ran a season personal record.  It was a special day for us as we watched and cheered for Julia Slyer ’14 running in her final Berkshire Cross Country race.  She has scored consistently in every race she has run during her three years on the team.  Her work ethic and leadership has been one of the most important threads embedded in the fabric of this team.  We look forward to keeping up with her as she moves on to run a marathon in the spring and an Iron-Man in the summer of 2014.

We want to wish Sarah Kinney ’15 good luck next weekend as she goes on to represent Berkshire School at the All Star Cross Country meet held at St. Mark’s.  Sarah had to qualify to participate in this meet, and she will be racing against the best runners from all of the New England divisions.  Go Sarah!
