The Bears' traveled to Suffield Academy on Saturday for their first game against a Class B opponent since defeating Williston last Saturday. The Bears began the game well, applying early pressure to
Suffield and keeping the home team in the their end. Suffield's back line did an excellent job of slowing Berkshire's attack and got ahead of many of the long balls which the Bears were playing early in and effort to spring Keunna Dill. The teams traded chances throughout the half with neither team converting and the score remained deadlocked at the break.
The Bears started the second half well and once again applied heavy pressure. Freshman Eliza Stitcher broke the tie at the 60th minute after making a great run and beating the Suffield keeper up high. Suffield responded extremely well and began to apply pressure to Berkshire and five minutes after the goal Suffield capitalized when the Bears misplayed a ball in their own box and allowed the home team to even the score. Suffield followed the tying goal by taking advantage again when the Bears left a player unmarked and the home side took a 2-1 lead with 25 minutes left to play. Down by a goal the Bears did not panic and increased the forward pressure, until Keunna Dill fired a great shot from 20 yards into the top portion of the netting to level the score. The final 15 minutes saw the Bears continue to generate some great chances which they could not convert and as a result were forced to settle for a draw.
The Bears are off this Wednesday but are back in action on Saturday at home against Canterbury on Parents' Weekend.
