Event Recap:

Berkshire was home again today playing against Gunnery.  The Bears jumped out to quick lead with two goals by Zeiko Lewis '13 in the 6th and 8th minute.  Both goals were assisted by Tony Amolo '13. It looked as though Lewis '13 would get his third just two minutes later, but he was knocked to the ground by a Gunnery defender as he measured an incoming cross.  Jack Harrison '15 took the penalty and scored the goal of the match. In the 25th minute, the Gunnery keeper was unable to grab a chipped ball by Jack Harrison '15 and the Bears took a 4-0 lead. Other Bears joined the field and met a Gunnery team that was hungry to get back in the game.  Gunnery pressed the Bears and generated a couple good chance. However, Bryan Gerstenfeld '15 in net for the Bears was able to make the necessary saves to preserve the 4-0 lead.

The Bears came out with a different look in the second half and played well.  Cooper Fersen '14, Jackson Borwick '13, and Matt Renzi '13 joined Brandon Allen '13 in the back line and played disciplined defense while showing good forward movement too. Matty Wieczorek '14 did well controlling the play in the middle for the Bears while also playing tough defense.  Juan Escobar '13 and Another Kushaina '15 added some attack to the midfield, and Andres Gimenez '13, Milton Martinez '15, and Ian Rasmussen '14 linked up well and made good attacking runs.  In the 65th minute, Andres Gimenez '13 timed a perfect run through the Gunnery back line and Milton Martinez '15 played a perfect ball through the gap.  Gimenez '13 broke to goal and calmly slotted in the fifth goal of the match. Five minutes later, Another Kushaina '15 pounced on a loose ball in the box and blasted a shot into the net, giving the Bears a 6-0 lead. The Bears back line held up strong to the constant pressure from Gunnery in the second half and earned a nice shutout. Gunnery competed hard the entire game and forced the Bears to play their best throughout the match.

With the win the Bears improve to 13-0-1.  Up next the Bears play South Kent on Wednesday, October 31st at FSA in Farmington, CT.
