Urinetown Cast Blog

Lights, Camera, Paint!

What’s green and smells like brown paint? Green paint. On Saturday January 14, 2012, we had our second set build out of three for Urinetown. The first set build was all about building the basic skeleton for the set, and on Saturday we made sure everything was on its way on becoming stable and pretty; or as pretty as it can get for a musical about pee.

Urinetown Blog painting Last week, we built two turning platforms. One of them will house the “public amenity” set and a wall for a secret hideout, the other one is for the Cladwell office. We also built backdrops for the town part of Urinetown. The second set build focused on painting the set. The backdrop is painted to look like a really poor and beat up city, a “’hood” of sorts. A Urine-hood. The set is coming together fabulously, and I really can’t believe that we have about five weeks left until opening night. Everyone is equally excited and nervous, with all sorts of deadlines looming. Between line run for Act II coming up, next week’s set build/dance rehearsal, we are living and breathing this show. And I think we breathed a little too much at set build, what with all that paint, since we were a little crazier than usual.
