FOUR WAYS TO HELP MAKE ONE DAY FOR BERKSHIRE A HUGE SUCCESS:

1) Sign up and become an ADVOCATE to track your impact.

WHY:
When you share One Day on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or email, you will know exactly how many clicks, gifts, and dollars your sharing is generating.

HOW:
A. Log onto www.givecampus.com and click ‘sign up’. You can either use your email or social media account.

B. Create a list of the folks you wish to encourage to make a gift. 

C. Get your customized link by clicking on “share,” “tweet,” “text,” or “email” from the Advocates tab on your gift receipt email.

D. At least three people have to click on and use your customized link for you to appear as an advocate.

E. Put your link in your outreach to know precisely how many clicks, gifts, and dollars your sharing is driving.

D. Share with your friends. 

2) Offer a MATCHING GIFT or CHALLENGE.

Motivate others to give by creating your very own matching donation or challenge.

How? On the campaign page, click on "Offer a Matching Gift" or "Offer a Challenge" on the sidebar below the video.

3) Create a 'PERSONAL PLEA' video.

Upload a video and use your own words to explain why One Day for Berkshire is important to you and what brings you JOY when thinking about your time under the Mountain!

HOW: 3 Easy Steps

• RECORD A SHORT VIDEO - Tell your friends why you're supporting ODFB and why they should, too.

• UPLOAD YOUR VIDEO - After you upload the video, you'll receive a link to share. 

• SHARE! - Share the link with your friends and inspire them to make a gift.

4) MAKE A GIFT! Lead by example and make a gift of any size.

Gifts can be made by credit card, debit card, Venmo, and by bank account.

TELL YOUR STORY - CREATE A PERSONAL PLEA AND POST IT TO THE ONE DAY FOR BERKSHIRE PAGE! KEEP IT QUICK, CASUAL, AND FUN! 

CONTENT TIPS:

• Introduce yourself: Tell viewers who you are and your connection to Berkshire.

• Make it personal and tell a story: Tell the viewer why you are passionate about ODFB and why they should be, too. What brings you joy when thinking about your time spent under the Mountain? Explain the goal of ODFB, why achieving that goal is worthy of their support, and how the money raised will advance an important cause.

• Make an ask! Ask the viewer to contribute to ODFB and to share it with friends. The crisper and clearer the call to action, the more impactful it will be.

• Keep it snappy: People have short attention spans, so don’t lose potential supporters by dragging on. We recommend that videos last no more than 60 seconds. At the very least, be sure to deliver your ask in the first 30-45 seconds.

• Let your excitement shine through: The more enthusiastic you are, the more excited viewers will be. Bring some energy!

TECHNICAL TIPS:

• Hold your phone horizontally: If filming with your phone, hold it horizontally and not vertically.

• Frame your shot: Film at eye level or slightly above. No one looks good from a low angle.

• Use good light: Natural light is best, so go outside if you can. A cloudy day is perfect for filming outside. If filming inside, light up the room as much as possible or film next to a sunny window. The more light, the less grainy your footage will be.

• Audio is important: Choose a quiet location to film so that listeners will hear your voice, not distracting background noise.

• Keep the camera steady: If using your phone and filming yourself, use both hands to grip it and keep your elbows close to your body for more stability.

“WHAT IS ODFB?”

An annual Berkshire event when our entire community comes together for an unprecedented day of giving.

“WHEN IS ODFB?”

This 24 hour event begins at 12:00 a.m. (EDT) on Wednesday, April 19 and ends at 11:59 p.m. (EDT). We will accommodate alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends from all over the world who may fall outside that window.

“WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?”

Anyone! The more participants supporting the Annual Fund, the faster we unlock $125,000 to Berkshire School.

“WHAT COUNTS TOWARDS ODFB?”

Any gift made on April 19 to any Annual Fund designation will count towards our goal whether it be online, over the phone, by Venmo, or mail.

“WHAT IS OUR ODFB GIVING DAY GOAL?”

Berkshire has set a goal of 1,250 donors to unlock $125,000 in support of the Annual Fund.

“HOW DO I MAKE A GIFT ONLINE?”

Head to http://www.berkshireschool.org/odfb2023, go to the "GIVE NOW!" button, and follow the instructions on the giving form.

“WILL MY DONATION COUNT TOWARD THE ALUMNI/PARENT PARTICIPATION RATE?”

If you are an alumnus/a, your gift will count toward the alumni participation rate. If you are a parent, your gift will count toward the parent participation rate. If you are both an alumnus/a and a parent, your gift will count toward both rates.

“HOW DO I ENCOURAGE MY CLASSMATES/PEERS TO PARTICIPATE?”

Become an advocate, create a ‘personal plea’ video, and share your video on social media. Participants will be rewarded with prizes.

Your communication to your peers will ensure the success of this day. Please spread the word!

“ARE THERE TALKING POINTS I SHOULD USE WHEN COMMUNICATING WITH MY PEERS?”

• Gifts to any annual designation (Annual Fund, Parents' Fund, Financial Aid, Faculty, Athletics, etc.) will be counted towards the goal.

• Gifts of any and every size are vital to supporting a Berkshire experience.

“IS MY GIFT TAX DEDUCTIBLE?”

Yes. As with any charitable contribution to Berkshire School, your gift on ODFB is tax deductible. Please consult your tax advisor with any specific questions.
