Finding Focus: Exploring Art Through the Environment in the Berkshires

Ages: Rising 6th-9th graders
Cost: $1,575
Students in this course will gain a better understanding of environmental art and its impact. Local field trips allow for a close look at unique ecosystems that inspire art highlighting them. During the week, found organic materials will be incorporated into modern masterpieces of abstract sculpture which will be on display at our culminating art exhibit.

Adobe Photoshop for Painting

Adobe Photoshop is a program with a myriad of functions, offering endless artmaking possibilities. In this course, students will focus on learning to use it as a painting tool by harnessing the power of industry standard Wacom tablets and Berkshire’s own Mac lab. This course begins with a brief introduction of Photoshop basics and photo manipulation and ends with students creating paintings of their own design. Finally, the use of state-of-the-art printers will ensure that each student takes home high-quality versions of all their works.

Adobe Illustrator for Sticker Design
SUNDAY, JULY 21 - FRIDAY, JULY 26
Ages: Rising 6th-9th graders
Cost: $1,575
Adobe Illustrator is a vector-based design program that allows users to make art independent of scale. Using this property, students in this course will create designs for the purpose of turning them into vinyl decals. The course will begin by using photographs of drawings to create sticker designs and then progress to using Illustrator to make more complex products. Each design will be cut into a set of actual vinyl decals so that students can see their sticker dreams become a reality.
