Field Hockey - Girls Varsity

Berkshire’s field hockey program has competed at the top of the New England Class B over the past ten years, appearing in the Class B New England tournament five out of the last six years. The team competes at the highest level with one of the toughest schedules in the league including games against top Class A NEPSFHA teams including Kent, Hotchkiss, Taft, Loomis Chaffee and Deerfield. With top notch athletic facilities, including a turf field specifically for field hockey, the Berkshire program continues to be a top contender in New England.

Berkshire also offers a strong junior varsity program to accommodate all levels of players and allow maximum participation. Every Berkshire field hockey player has the opportunity to compete on a team regardless of her experience or skill level. Regardless of the team, the Berkshire field hockey program aims to provide a rewarding and enjoyable athletic experience for all of its participants who are provided the chance to improve their skills in an environment that values competition, sportsmanship, commitment and teamwork. As players develop through the program, the emphasis changes from participation to performance which culminates in the selection of the varsity team and is reflected in the amount of playing time each girl receives. The philosophy behind the experience is based on the school’s motto: Pro Vita Non Pro Schola Discimus, “Learning—not just for school, but for life,” as our players learn to accept defeat with dignity and win with honor, demonstrating poise, determination, purpose and integrity.
