Softball - Girls Varsity
Berkshire's softball team has established itself as a strong and continually improving program over the last few years. The team competes in the Western New England Prep Softball Association (WNEPSA)—founded by former Berkshire softball coach Bill Gulotta—and plays a very competitive schedule against many strong Class A programs including Taft, Westminster, and Suffield.
The softball program aims to build good teammates on and off the field, emphasizing sportsmanship, competition and hard work. The coaches look to create an atmosphere of continual improvement, both as a team and within individual players. In addition, Berkshire's softball field boasts one of the best views in New England, sitting atop a hill on the south side of campus overlooking the mountains.
Head Coach: Jason Keefer
Coach Keefer was named head girls softball coach at Berkshire in 2014. A member of Hampden-Sydney College's Hall of Fame for his play on the diamond, Keefer was a standout second basemen and graduated with a .365 batting average. In addition to teaching math at Berkshire, Mr. Keefer is House Head of Eipper Dormitory and coaches boys thirds basketball. He and his wife, Amy, live on campus with their two children.
