Nordic Skiing (co-ed)
Nordic Skiing made its return to Berkshire in 2017 after a long hiatus. Competing as a part of the Berkshire Nordic League, skiers race against both public and private schools in Western, MA on a weekly basis in both individual and team events. With on-campus trails and grooming, skiers get the unique experience of enjoying our setting under the Mountain on a daily basis throughout the winter. When the weather is not cooperating, skiers are able to access local ski areas to get time on snow. The athletes pride themselves on being hard-working and dedicated skiers who put an emphasis on creating an inclusive and supportive team environment.
A native of Wolfeboro, NH, Coach Cooper also serves as a science teacher at Berkshire. As a part of the Gunstock Nordic Association, he spent years training under former New Zealand Olympic coach Alexei Sotskov and Olympic Gold Medalist Nina Gavrylyuk and racing on a regional and national level, including the Eastern High School Championships and US Nationals. As a student-athlete in high school, Dan founded the nordic ski team at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH. He has lived and worked in boarding schools for 10 years and is excited for the revival of nordic skiing at Berkshire School.
