Crew - Boys Varsity
The boys varsity crew team competes within the fours division of the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association (NEIRA). Over the past five years, the team has established itself as the best the league has to offer. The team trains and hosts races at its home course in Lakeville, Conn., where its own boathouse provides the only traffic on the lake. The team begins the season with a preseason training trip—recent sites for this trip have included Tampa, Florida and Clemson, South Carolina—that allows the team to reacquaint themselves with the sport and build team cohesion.
Recently, Berkshire revived fall rowing, allowing for nearly year-round training for those committed to such an endeavor. The spring season culminates at the NEIRA Championships on Lake Quinsigamond (Worcester, Mass.) in late May. Success in this broad, competitive program has earned recent rowers and coxswains recruitment at a variety Division I and Division III programs such as Bates, Bucknell, Colgate, Navy, West Point, and Wisconsin.
Berkshire crew trains at the Norman White Boathouse at Camp Sloane in Lakeville, Conn. In addition, we use the facilities at the Jackman L. Stewart Athletic Center on campus, which houses our 10 Concept 2 ergometers, a full weight room, and additional athletic amenities.
