Crew - Boys Varsity
The Boys Varsity Crew team competes in the fours division of the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association (NEIRA). Over the past five years, the team has established itself as the best the league has to offer. The team trains and hosts races at its home course in Lakeville, Conn., where its own boathouse provides the only traffic on the lake. The team begins the season with a preseason training trip—recent sites have included Tampa, Fla., and Clemson, S.C.—that allows the team to reacquaint itself with the sport and build team cohesion.
Recently, Berkshire revived Fall Crew, allowing for nearly year-round training for those committed to the sport. The spring season culminates at the NEIRA Championships on Lake Quinsigamond (Worcester, Mass.) in late May. Success in this broad, competitive program has earned recent rowers and coxswains recruitment at a variety of Division I and Division III programs, such as Bates College, Bucknell University, Colgate University, the United States Naval Academy, and the University of Wisconsin.
Berkshire Crew trains at the Norman White Boathouse at Camp Sloane in Lakeville, Conn. The team also uses the facilities at the Jackman L. Stewart Athletic Center on campus, which houses 10 Concept2 ergometers, a full weight room, and additional athletic amenities.
