Coach Czepiel joined Berkshire in 2023 after seven years as head coach at Northfield Mount Hermon, where he compiled a record of 104-58-16 and led the program to NEPSAC playoff appearances in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023. Prior to NMH, he spent two years on the coaching staff at the University of Massachusetts, overseeing day-to-day operations of the Division I hockey program, including video analysis, player skill development, practice planning, and team travel.
Now in his third season leading the Bears, Coach Czepiel has guided the team to a combined 45-19-1 record over his first two years. Berkshire reached the Piatelli/Simmons Championship Game in 2025 and the semifinals of the Martin/Earl Tournament in 2024. During this span, three players have earned First-Team All-NEPSAC honors. Over the course of his ten years in prep school coaching, more than 50 of Coach Czepiel's players have gone on to compete at the Division I and Division III levels.
A prep school graduate himself, Czepiel went on to play Division I hockey at the University of Massachusetts, serving as captain in his senior year. He was a three-time Hockey East All-Academic selection and a 2013 nominee for the Derek Hines Unsung Hero Award. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Isenberg School of Management and later an M.S. in Sport Management.
In addition to his coaching role, Coach Czepiel serves as an Associate Director of Admission, advisor, and lives in MacMillan Dorm with his wife, Emily, and their three children, Colin, Christopher, and Olivia.
